Cameron Laird's personal notes on HP OpenView
Personal sentiments
OpenView is a large, expensive, complicated family of products targeted
for network administration.
Its developers kit includes an API of entry points of interest mostly
to those working with
SNMP. I'm not fond
of OV, because I've found it grotesquely difficult to buy and
administrate--it even inclines me toward use of "administrate" as a
verb. I have had too little experience yet to judge its
usability accurately.

OVForum services:
- OVForum mailing list:
- archives of
past postings--note that these are odiously difficult to
navigate on a text-only basis, as the introductory page
is based on image maps. Also, the archive appears to be
corrupt; messages are not sorted as advertised, and many
are missing. At least the HTTP server is a
zippy one.
