Cameron Laird's personal notes on Tcl CD-ROMs
Good online indexes to books and
articles
are already available; now it's time to describe what's on CD-ROM.
I don't have the time now to research and review all the offerings.
I'll add to these notes from time to time; what I most want is that
readers will e-mail me
with the information others will find useful. I'll collate and
publish it here.
These are the known CD-ROMs (I've learned
there certainly are a lot of different ways
publishers wrap them in plastic!):
- Tcl/Tk Consortium's
CD-ROM
- CDs with books:
- Red
Hat Linux Unleashed, second edition,
has RPMs for Tcl7.6, TclX7.6, Expect 5.?, and
Tk4.2 (although the latter is labeled "Tcltk7").
- Tcl/Tk
Tools
includes binaries for Solaris and Linux (but not
Win* or MacOS), mostly based on Tcl7.5.
- UNIX Unleashed
provides a collection of 7.6 and 8.0 versions of Tcl, Tk, and
TclX, and Expect.
- The 1996 edition of
Graphical
Applications ...
has tons of stuff, derived mostly from Tcl7.4,Tk4.0, with
early releases of 7.5a2 and 4.1a2.
- Brent Welch's book
- M&M's Effective Tcl
- Linux source distributions
- CD houses
- Red Hat
- Walnut Creek
- PHT
- InfoMagic
- ...
